TRUCK RESPONDS TO SEAT PLEASANT HOUSE FIRE WITH MAYDAY

Just before 0500 hrs on Saturday morning, the assignment for the house on fire was sounded in the 5700 block of Dade Street in Seat Pleasant. As units were responding, PSC provided and update in which the caller said that the house next door was on fire and had fire conditions throughout. Engine Company 5 arrived on scene and reported a single family dwelling with a basement and fire showing from the basement and the first floor. While making entry on the first floor, the floor inside the doorway gave way sending the lineman from Engine Company 5 down into the basement. The MAYDAY was sounded immediately for the downed fire fighter. Truck 37 was dispatched 2nd due and arrived as such, reporting directly to the basement division and quickly turned their focus to the reported downed fire fighter. The crew from Tower 33 made way into the area of the reported MAYDAY and located the lineman who was removed without injury and assisted by Truck 37 to exit the structure. The MAYDAY was quickly mitigated and Truck 37 returned to normal operations in the basement conducting searches, controlling utilities and opening up for extinguishment of the fire. The fire was brought under control quickly with command holding companies 5, 33 and 37 for overhaul.
