Shortly after 0930, PSC alerted units for a reported house on fire in the 11000 block of Marjorie Drive in Co.46’s first due. Engine Co.37 was second due on the box alarm and arrived as such. Initial units arrived to find smoke showing from a two story single family home. Engine Co.37 arrived and stretched the 400′ finding and extinguishing the fire which was located in the basement.
The Ritchie Volunteer Fire Department would like to extend its sincere congratulations to Lt. Greig Bernard (Engine Co.9) of the DCFD after 28 years of service to the city. Greig has been an active member of Ritchie for 36 years and has held numerous positions including Chief 37A. Greig continues to mentor the membership of this department and always is willing to pass on his knowledge and experience he has gained from the streets of PG and DCFD. We wish him well in his future endeavors and a long and happy retirement.
Just before 2230 hours last evening, PSC transmitted a box alarm for a report of a house on fire in the 8600 block of Central Avenue in the first due. Engine Co.37 arrived taking their own hydrant and found smoke showing from the alpha side. The crew stretched the 150′ bumper line and found a room off that was quickly extinguished. This is the second first due fire for the engine company in three days.
Shortly before 2100 hours yesterday, a box alarm was transmitted for a report of a house on fire in the 2300 block of Timbercrest Drive in the first due. Engine Co.37 arrived on scene to find fire showing from the attached garage of a two story split-foyer single family home. The fire was quickly extinguished with the engine crew operating for a few hours before returning to service. (Photos D.Arocho Co.37)
